Determine Your Eligibility

Eligibility criteria includes verification of an applicant’s qualifications, experience, and professionalism. Please review the College’s basic eligibility criteria in the flow diagrams below to determine if you may qualify for a Licence to Practice Medicine.

If you have a Full, Unrestricted Licence in another Canadian Province or Territory, please click here.

Note: Further documentation and verifications may be required, beyond that which is outlined in the basic eligibility criteria flow diagrams, once the application process has begun.


The Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA)

Physicians who do not meet the requirements for licensure in Newfoundland and Labrador but hold a Licence to Practice Medicine in another Canadian province or territory may be eligible for a similar licence type with CPSNL under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA).

Once initial eligibility has been determined, supporting documentation is requested and verified prior to the issuance of a Licence to Practice Medicine. Additional information on current required documentation can be found here.
