Quality Assurance
Physicians are entrusted with the responsibility of providing specialized services to members of the public. Physicians’ completion of formal training and satisfaction of licensing requirements ensure that they are competent and knowledgeable at entry-to-practice. Lifelong continuing medical education and professional development allows physicians to maintain competency of professional practice ongoing. Regardless of these measures, residents of Newfoundland and Labrador are entitled to expect that their doctor is fit to practice medicine. Part of the College’s mandate is to administer a program of quality assurance to ensure that physicians are able to practice safely, competently, and in good health.
