- A degree from a World Directory of Medical Schools recognized university or school of medicine
- One of the following:
- College of Family Physicians of Canada Certification (CCFP), or Collège des Médecins du Québec (CMQ) certification; or
- Successfully completed discipline appropriate postgraduate training program in the United States of America and current certification with the American Board of Family Medicine
- Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) or acceptable alternative
- Currency of Practice
- English Language Proficiency
- Good Character – all or some of the following may be required:
- Up to 3 References
- Criminal Record Check
- Certificate(s) of Professional Conduct from each Jurisdiction a Licence has been held in the previous 10 years
- Disciplinary and background questionnaire
- Government issued photo identification
- Evidence of Professional Liability Coverage for Newfoundland and Labrador
