Consent to Treatment – DRAFT

Physicians have an ethical and legal obligation to ensure that their patients understand a proposed treatment and provide consent. This updated Standard sets out the College’s expectations for obtaining consent.

Establishing and Ending the Physician-Patient Relationship – DRAFT

When deciding whether to accept a new patient, physicians must ensure their decision is fair and non-discriminatory. Once a relationship is established, physicians are expected to continue to provide services until these services are no longer required or until after the patient has been given reasonable notice that the physician intends to end the relationship. This updated Standard sets out the College’s expectations for establishing and ending the physician-patient relationship.

Interdisciplinary Care & Delegation of Tasks – DRAFT

Interdisciplinary care can enhance the delivery of patient-centred care and improve patient and system outcomes. This proposed new Standard of Practice outlines the College’s expectations of physicians in supporting interdisciplinary care. It also sets out how physician can delegate tasks to another healthcare team member.
