Application for Deferral from Continuing Professional Development Policy
As per the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) policy, physicians licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (the College) must join either the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) for CPD purposes and must remain compliant with the CPD program requirements.
Physicians who are unable to comply with the requirements of their CPD program due to illness, parental leave, caregiver obligations, or other extraordinary extenuating circumstances may apply to the College’s Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) for a deferral from the College’s CPD requirements. Applicants must complete the form below and include details of the circumstances and any supporting documentation.
If the QAC grants a deferral, the physician will be notified of the decision and the length of the deferral.
If the QAC declines to grant a deferral, the physician will be notified of the decision and provided a date by which they must become compliant with the program (if non-compliant).
